This 6-day experience is a wonderful introduction to the fauna and flora of Eastern Madagascar, combined with encounters with local communities and immersion in the Malagasy way of life. The highlight is Andasibe National Park, one of the best places to see Madagascar's extraordinary lemurs, including the Indri-Indri, the largest living lemur, amid rainforest filled with orchids, ferns and ancient trees.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive Antananarivo (Tana)

Upon arrival in Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar, guests are welcomed at the airport by the Diahnay Tours team and assisted with the transfer to the hotel. The rest of the day is free to relax or enjoy first impressions of the Malagasy capital before the adventure east. Overnight at Les 03 Metis on bed and breakfast or similar.

Day 2

Antananarivo to Andasibe

After breakfast, depart Antananarivo and head east along National Road 2 through the increasingly lush and tropical landscapes of Eastern Madagascar, passing small villages and glimpses of everyday Malagasy life. An optional stop at the Peyrieras Private Reserve can be arranged to observe chameleons, lemurs and other endemic species. Continue to Andasibe, surrounded by one of Madagascar's most important rainforest areas, then check in and relax. Before dinner, enjoy a night walk in the VOI reserve to observe nocturnal lemurs, chameleons, frogs and other species. Overnight at Vakona Forest Lodge on bed and breakfast or similar.

Day 3

Andasibe and Analamazaotra Reserve

After breakfast, a morning visit to the Analamazaotra Special Reserve, one of the best places in Madagascar to observe the famous Indri-Indri, the largest living lemur. Enjoy a half-day guided walk from approximately 8:00 a.m. to noon, discovering the lush rainforest and its endemic flora and fauna. Lunch is at your own expense. In the afternoon, continue to the Vakona Private Reserve to discover Vakona Island, enjoy a canoe ride to observe ring-tailed lemurs and visit the crocodile farm. Overnight at Vakona Forest Lodge on bed and breakfast or similar.

Day 4

Andasibe to Antananarivo

After breakfast, depart Andasibe and begin the journey back to Antananarivo along National Road 2, enjoying final views of the lush Eastern landscapes, tropical vegetation and traditional villages. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at Les 03 Metis on bed and breakfast or similar.

Day 5

Antananarivo City Tour

After breakfast, meet the guide and set out to discover the capital of Madagascar, its history, culture and vibrant daily life. Explore the famous Digue Market, a lively place to discover Malagasy craftsmanship and local products such as handicrafts, textiles and souvenirs. The visit offers a final opportunity to meet local people and discover Malagasy know-how. Overnight at Les 03 Metis on bed and breakfast or similar.

Day 6

Antananarivo Departure

After breakfast, enjoy final moments in Antananarivo. Check-out from the hotel is at 10:00 a.m. Depending on the international flight schedule, the driver transfers guests to Ivato International Airport (TNR) for the onward flight.
